A school-year research program from the DNA Learning Center where New York City high school students use DNA barcoding to study biodiversity. Accepted students take a training course on biodiversity, conservation biology and research methods with lab work, then carry out their own barcoding projects in teams matched with scientist mentors. About 36 students are invited each year, and no prior lab experience is required. Students who present at the Student Research Symposium receive a $500 stipend.
