A U.S. Department of State scholarship for U.S. citizen high school students aged 15 to 18 to study a critical language such as Arabic, Chinese, Korean or Russian. The summer program runs 6 to 7 weeks abroad, and the academic year program runs 8 to 10 months with a host family or in a supervised dormitory. No prior language study is required for the summer program, and a 10-week online Virtual NSLI-Y course is also offered for beginners.
